Abstract

The article deals with the issues of the impact of cross-border mergers and acquisitions on a competitive environment. The current trends of mergers and acquisitions in the world market and its influence on structural changes in the global economy are investigated. It is determined that the growth of the rates of modern mergers and acquisitions (M&A) is caused by changes in the global economic environment and the dynamic interaction between different basic factors. It is defined which fundamental changes are directly related to the cross-border M&A. The article analyzes the dynamics of inflow of direct foreign investments in groups of countries and the cost of cross-border M&A in the sectors of economy, with the inflow of investments in all three sectors of the economy. The main regulatory tools used in the regulation of the competitive environment for cross-border mergers and acquisitions are traced. The regulatory instruments within international organizations, such as UNCTAD and OECD are studied and their positive regulatory impact on the formation of competitive environment is identified.
