Study of the european experience of increasing the competitiveness of the transport industry

The article defines the role of the transport industry in the socio-economic development of the countries of the European Union. It has been established that increased competition in the global transportation market, the integration of Ukraine into the European and world transport systems require the use of new approaches to the development of the transport sector and increase its competitiveness. The volume of traffic in the countries of the European Union is analyzed in dynamics. The current trends in the development of the transport complex of the EU countries are studied. Attention is focused on a set of measures adopted by the European Commission in order to increase the competitiveness of the industry in the global transportation market and further form the Common European Transport Space. The modern practices of formation of competitive advantages by the leaders of the transport industry of the countries of the European Union are studied, taking into account the best world achievements and innovations in the field of improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of logistics activities. Those that, subject to adaptation, are of interest to the domestic transport complex as strategic directions for the further development of the transport industry of Ukraine have been identified.
