The article examines the transformational changes in the energy paradigm of world economic development in the face of globalization challenges. The theoretical basis of energy resources, their distribution, features of the energy market functioning, external and internal factors of its formation, features of the market structure in the energy sector are considered. Trends in the development of the global energy market are analyzed. It is substantiated that as the sustainable development model is established in world practice, there is an urgent need to reduce significantly the segment of energy-intensive types of global production and reduce the scale of energy resource consumption. Specific recipes for the implementation of Ukraine's energy policy are developed that will contribute to increasing the level of energy security. It is substantiated that the implementation of an effective energy policy of states depends on: the creation of transparent and competitive energy markets; diversification of energy resource supply; development of renewable energy sources; effective adaptation of circular economy models in the field of renewable energy; attraction of investments in innovative technologies that will allow for a rapid response to emergencies, as well as ensuring the stability of energy systems.
