The transformation of the Ukrainian labor market in the context of global economic challenges

The article is devoted to the study of the components of the transformation of the Ukrainian labor market, taking into account the impact of modern global economic challenges. The dynamics of key labor market indicators for the period 2011-2024 are analyzed, with trends identified in the decline of the labor force and employed population, as well as changes in the gender and age structure of the employed. Attention is drawn to the reduction in labor market capacity and the persistence of significant imbalances between labor supply and demand. It is substantiated that, in addition to existing labor market trends, a critical destabilizing factor – the war on the country’s territory – has emerged, reshaping the employment landscape in Ukraine and creating new challenges for regulating current and future labor flows.
It is noted that structural shifts in the national labor market are occurring within the context of global economic and labor market trends. Particular attention is paid to the influence of globalization, digitalization, and social transformations.
It is emphasized that Ukraine is undergoing a specific process of national labor market transformation, particularly in terms of adaptation during wartime. This necessitates the implementation of a set of adaptive measures aimed at enhancing the balance and flexibility of Ukraine’s labor market, taking into account the conditions of martial law and the needs of post-war recovery, as well as determining priorities for the country’s further economic development.
