Tools and approaches to valuing the intellectual capital of international companies in the context of an innovation-driven economy

Abstract

The issue of analyzing the mechanisms for assessing the value of intellectual capital, which is formed in the activities of international companies in the conditions of an innovation-oriented economy, is considered. The subject of the study is the group of principles that form the assessment of the value of intellectual capital from the position of considering it as a specific object that is formed in conditions of risk and uncertainty. It is noted that the key approaches to assessing intellectual capital are usually based on generally accepted theories of value, but may change under the influence of the external environment instability and the lack of information about future changes. The basic concepts of value are analyzed and it is found that they take into account to a limited extent the peculiarities of intellectual capital as an object of assessment in the conditions of the global market. This necessitates the deepening of the theoretical and methodological foundations of its assessment, in particular the development of principles that meet the modern challenges of the innovation economy. A classification of the main principles of assessing the value of intellectual capital is compiled, which involves their division into separate key groups depending on the nature of application.
