The investigation of employment trends in the IT sphere of Ukraine

Abstract

The article presents the results of the study of employment trends in the IT sphere of Ukraine in wartime conditions in order to further determine the information and analytical basis for effective team building. The dynamics of the number of vacancies, wages, and the number of employees in the IT sphere are analyzed and changes in employment trends caused by the challenges of wartime are summarized. The key features of the industry include the following: competitive wages; a high proportion of employees with higher education and work experience of more than 5 years; the prevalence of remote employment; a high level of employee mobility; the vast majority of employees are employed as sole proprietors; a low average age of employees; a wide range of employee specializations. The main trends that determine the sphere of employment in the IT sphere are: a decrease in the level of wages compared to the pre-war period; decrease in the number of vacancies and increase in the unemployment rate among IT specialists; emergence of a shortage of personnel (in certain segments) due to the mobilization of men; increase in the share of women among IT specialists; spread of a new form of employment organization (gig contracts); decrease in the number of contracts from abroad; emphasis in the process of filling vacancies on own human resources. The feasibility of taking these features into account when organizing the team building process in IT teams (projects) is substantiated.
