Prospects for innovative development of the regions of Ukraine through the implementation of the tool of smart specialization

The relevance of scientific topics related to the use of tools to activate the innovative development of the regions of Ukraine has been substantiated. Based on the analysis of successful foreign experience, it has been established that the most progressive modern tool for enhancing the innovative development of the region and the country as a whole is the smart specialization of the region. The essence of the region's smart specialization is concretized and the features of the implementation of this process are determined, formed on the basis of the analysis of the best foreign practices. It has been proven that Ukraine has taken a course towards introducing the principles of smart specialization at the regional level, as a result of which in the development strategies of the regions of Ukraine for the period 2021-2027 the comprehensive development of innovative orientation and narrow specialization in priority areas of the regional economy was proclaimed. The study of the content of strategies for the development of regions of Ukraine for the period 2021-2027 in order to establish the presence, clarity of definition and substantive concretization of smart specialization of the country's regions. The comparison of the proclaimed smart specializations of the regions of Ukraine is carried out and the level of their focus on enhancing innovative development is characterized.
